Touchdown!

Well, that was quite hassle free. After a short layover in Fiji where the airport personel were wearing hawaiian shirts (or fijiian shirts i guess), and an even shorter plane ride into Auckland airport, I'm here! First thing I noticed, dang the immigration and customs people were nice. They actually smiled and wished me a pleasent stay... didn't even ask for evidence of funds or travel insurance and all the other things the website had me prepare for. The one snag was they couldn't find my visa application in their system, but they told me to just retrieve my check-in bag and sit down. 5 minutes later, a lady came to me and told me I was all set and sorry for the wait. Even the drug sniffing dog looked friendly.

Now I gotta find transport to the center of the city and find my hostel... then the real journey begins. Oh yeah... as the plane approached, I noticed the grass was bright green and there were leaves on the trees. Isn't it supposed to winter here?

Can’t wait for the wonderful pictures to be uploaded…I’m sure there are friendly tourists hanging out in the hostels over there too.

The dogs will try to attack you, and the lack of anything important will mean you have to be stripped searched by at least 3 different people. Did the sun have a smiley face on it when you got off of the plane with little old timey Disney tunes playing in the background, like in “Who Framed Roger Rabbit”?
