Life's a Beach

A picture my sister posted on her Myspace... We're Americans...
We're dangerous... Watch out!

My friends from last year's Killarney workcamp gathered
in Greece for a holiday last month. Lucky them! No fair!
Oh wait... What am I complaining about?

Back to NZ, or should I say France, where the Rugby World Cup
is underway. The All Blacks, NZ's national team, dismantled Italy's
defense to win 76-14 in their opener. Pretty much it's all Rugby
all the time now on TV. It's a national obsession here. The picture is
from a news source, and the players are performing the Haka, or
ceremonial Maori war dance that involves chanting, to intimidate
opponents before the game. It's pretty cool.

This guy came swooping in from out of nowhere.

"More bars in more places."

Fish & Chips places are to Auckland as pubs are to Dublin.

Tim and I hauling rubbish to a dumpsite. I couldn't believe my car
could pull that without a problem. The power! THE POWER!!!

Fish & chips dinner with Andrew. The meal also came with sausages and
eggrolls. Sausages are gross here, too much flour. The eggrolls were
included because the Chinese infuse their cuisine in everything they sell.

The place I work at. Looks like it was created with 3Dsmax.

That's Leo, he spent the last week training me in everything he does.
I'm taking over for him while he goes to China to lecture to post-grad
students about some topic in linguistics.

Why this is his dayjob? I don't know.

Down at Muriwai Beach for some "Oh my god. I just stepped into a
travel brochure" kind of scenery.

It looks like the beginning of time... which isn't too far from the truth since
NZ is one of the youngest landmasses on Earth.

Cardrona Speights Ale House... or as Tim calls it, church, because he comes
here religiously. They built an exact replica of this place and are shipping
it to England.

Post bar shopping for dinner. Broccoli is cheap. That's just about it.

Which All Black do you look like? None of them look black to me :)
Actually, there are hardly any black people here. It's weird.
