Back From a Roadtrip

FUCK!
In a good way and bad way...
Fuckin' gorgeous scenery... AGHHHH!!! I was drooling (and snapping away on the camera) the whole way down North Island... beautiful hills, mountains, lakes, winding roads, waterfalls, oceans... freakin... sheep dotting the landscape the entire way. Shit... and the South Island is supposed to be the nicer one; I can't begin to imagine what that will be like. Then Wellington was awesome. Meeting lots of Kevin's friends and family (he's from there), then dancing at the club at night... or some clumsy body contortions that resemble dancing, but I don't care. The ride back wasn't as nice because the country clouded over as usual, and it rained most of the day. When we finally got back, the front gate was busted open and Coke was missing. After panicking a bit, I got a hold of Tim who got a call from someone who found the dog wandering the streets. I just picked him up a little while ago. No worries.
Now for the bad Fuck.... FUCK!!! This morning as I was taking pictures, I noticed a small flaw in the screen. I thought it was just a smudge. Nope. Maybe some dirt on the lense? Nope. Fuckin' somehow dust got into the lense inside the camera. FUCK!!!! I don't know what to do now... I'm seriously considering buying another camera, because fucked up pictures are just not acceptable in my book.
Random stuff...
-I'll get the pictures from this weekend online ASAP (When I start procrastinating, I get exponentially lazy about getting it done)
-Daylight savings time just started today here, so we lost an hour, but have more sunlight now. Now the time difference between here and home is 17 hours instead of 16. And once you guys go back to standard time, the difference will be 18 hours.
-It's weird how I'm meeting so many people and having so many experiences that in the past would've warranted mention in my travel blogs... But it's become it's become so routine, I'm forgetting to make note of it. I hope I don't regret it later.
-I've been getting what I believe are flea bites because the pets keep on trying to sleep on my bed. One time the cat even snuck in through the window at night... I work up like, What The Hell???
-I like the Kiwi accent. I was concerned it'd be like the Aussie accent which was starting to annoy the hell out of me in Europe last year... especially when they were drunk and rowdy. They're similar, but the Kiwi accent is more mellow.... a bit of a mixture between Aussie, British, and American accents. There are certain pronunciations that are distinctly Kiwi. The most obvious one to me is that the short 'e' like in bed sounds like something between an 'ee' and 'i' sound. So when someone says they're going to bed, it sounds more like they're is going to work on some crafts or log onto trademe (that's their version of ebay). One radio advertisement about a deck preserver sounds especially hilarious to me.
-Living in a flatting situation is definitely an experience in itself. When I was living at home, I had a ton of freedom, and really had things my way (and a gourmet meal waiting on the stove). Now I have to learn to accommodate to other people's habits and personalities. This roadtrip was a good idea because it gave me a chance to know Kevin better. When you sing songs on the radio with someone for almost 20 hours, you're definitely less of a stranger. I can't say the experience with Andrew, South African guy, has been as optimistic. He was getting on my bad side once he starting nagging and nit picking, incessantly burping, complaining and yelling at the TV like it cared what he thought... and you know... once you're on my bad side, I just ignore you. Hopefully that situation improves. And Tim... he's just never around, always working in Wellington, but when he is around, we go to the pub, so it's all good.
