Hanging out in New York - World Taiji Day in Central Park - Some Saturday - April 2004

After a short 2.5 hour bus trip, we arrive at Central Park. This is my first time there. For once, a Wushu event where Master doesn't have to perform or coach, just relax
So the whole point of the trip was for the Taiji people to have a cultural exchange with other wushu practitioners around the "world". I was expecting a much bigger turnout considering how nice the weather was.
Of course the non-taiji people ditched the taiji people and we went off to walk around the beautiful park. Lots of playgrounds and such... and we just had to stop at every single one.
Doesn't this picture look like something out of an American Eagle advertisement?
Posing on top of rocks, a wushu past-time.
Oh yeah, there was still Taiji going on
There was a beautiful garden with blossoms in full bloom. It's crazy that a place like this exists right in the middle of a city like NY. I didn't realize how large it was either, we only explored about a quarter of the park.
Master Hu being as touristy as everyone else.
After the Taiji event was over, we hopped back onto the bus and headed for Chinatown. There, we had some yummy Dimsum. So at our table were me, jiayin, phil, jackie, peter, ali, john, wayne, and sometimes kevin who was wondering table to table.
After lunch, and an extensive wait to use the bathroom, we were free to wander Chinatown. It ended up just being an expedition to find purse for Jiayin.
Familiar sight... Jiayin checking out a store, comes back, no good. She DID get a purse eventually though, thank god. even though it was one of the first places we checked out.
T'was a fun time.
