Greater Hartford International Chinese Martial Arts Tournament - Competition
Saturday Morning - May 14, 2005

The competition took place on two arenas in an indoor gym area at the Learning Corridor in Hartford. It was the perfect size venue for this competition because the crowd wasn't too packed or too sparse. Everybody could root everybody else on. It was as terrific supporting atmosphere of competition and learning.
Me chillin' with my wushu brothers Marco and Brian.
Wonchi warming up outside since there wasn't really anywhere else to do so. Phil thinks her head looks disproportianally big compared to her body in this picture...but i don't think so. Maybe Phil needs to get his eyes checked again.
Fu Bo (Ansson) has a head that's actually more disproportional than Wonchi. He was crazy and got amazing airtime. He won the men's contemporary all-around and $500.
Jiayin with her bag of ice for her knee that she mysteriously hurt on thursday night. Maybe it was from all the cleaning, but she sucked it up and went through the day and wound up with an extra $500 in her pocket. Maybe if i hurt my knee I would have won the $500.
Hector looks like a warrior preparing for battle. Or as Jiayin puts it, a scary pumpkin, while he dissapointedly claimed to be a tiger. (he had black shoes with orange stripes that matched)
Why am i here?
It's like deja vu... ...again...
...and again... and again... ...and again.
The logo i made was used as the medal design. Looks just the way i wanted. Hehe... it's sort of like being immortalized once it's cast in metal.
Chinese guy jumps wicked high doing tongbei.
FEAR THE WRATH OF PHIL!!!
I can't say i did too well during changquan, but my balance was one of the few highlights.
The comments i got on the new light included "it looks like bubblegum" and "it reminds me of cotton candy"... bite me.
Having only done the entire form about 4 times before competition, I'm just glad i was able to pull the aerial off without killing myself.
The Chinese guys from
Looks like Gwan's pulling off some breakdance move while doing straightsword in this picture.
Scotty with a medal. Later that evening, Molly was translating for us what the characters meant. They just phonetically sounding out the event and location. It's funny how "Hartford" becomes "har-tu-fu"
The judges imported from China did an excellent job judging fairly and impartially.
