Wushu is art in motion, so still pictures hardly
do it justice. This section of my site has some original video of our
wushu performances. A lot of them don't seem to work anymore... oh fuckin' well.
Dragonboat Demo 2002
Hebi was the awesome
kid from the Zhejiang team who came to train with us at the Wushu
Center for 6 months. During his months here, i learned a lot about
performing power and spirit from the little guy. He was the junior national champion
of china, yet humble and grateful as can be. These are videos of
him performing at the Dragonboat Riverfront Demonstration in Hartford
in September 2002.
Usually when we do the Chinese New Years Demo, we have a half hour performance with several individual forms, taiji, group forms, etc. This year, we were given about 5 minutes, and Master Hu decided to squeeze as much as possible into those few minutes. After 2 weeks of intense planning and practice, we awokened the slumbering audience with a pretty rocking finale.
A kempo karate school invited us to demonstrate at a banquet honoring one of their masters. We had to modify our forms to fit on the small hardwood dance floor. I was a little nervous at first because of the low ceiling, windows, and children sitting way up close, but we adjusted pretty well. It was especially a treat to see Master Hu perform Xingyi.

2006 started out with a slew of demos to celebrate the Chinese New Year. This is some video I took with my little digital camera, so the quality isn't all that hot.
Our friends at the Kung Fu Academy up in Chicopee hosted a small kung-fu tournament in which some of our students participated in. Here are the few forms I recorded. If anybody has any videos to share, please contact me.
